Shutter speed and aperture.

Shutter speed and aperture.

  • A high shutter speed such as 1/2500 of a second is great for capturing freeze frame shots, for example action sports photos and anything moving however the higher the shutter speed the higher your ISO will have to be to compensate for lack of light, because when you have a high shutter speed you can't have a maximum size aperture.
  • these shutter speeds are also great for burst (capturing lots of images of a moving subject) this can also be used to create sequence images.
  • slower shutter speeds are also interesting as they allow you to capture movement and allow you to manipulate your subject e.g light movement can be used to create streaks of light across the frame, but not only light human subjects can work too.
  • A large aperture of f2.8 is good for blurring backgrounds in images creating a sense of depth.
