Processing black & white film

Processing black& white film.
Step one.
  • Take these materials into the dark room, developing tank, Scissors, opener and film into the darkroom.
  • Step 2 open the cassette and remove the film spool, trim the end of the film and load the film onto the spiral, now fit the centre tube through the spiral and place into the tank, fit the funnel top onto the tank and be sure when screwing it on its straight.
  • Use 20 degree celcius water to add water to the X-Tol developer in the ratio 1:1
  • To develop one 35mm film u need 300ml mixed solution (150m of water and 150mm of X-Tol)
  • Iff u are doing 2 35mm films or 120 films 600ml of solution is required in the same mix ratio.
  • The next step is to pour your solution into the developer tank and fit sealing lid, start timing as soon as the solution is in the tank.
  • Iff u used 100/125 ISO film 9 minutes is required, for 400 ISO film 11 minutes is required, now tap the tank on the table to pop any bubbles that could harm your results, you must invert the fluid every 30 seconds.
  • you need to have the same amount of fix and stop fluid ready for after development.
  • 15 seconds before the development pour the fluid into the waste tank.
  • Fill tank with stop fluid, invert the tank twice and pour the fluid back into the stop bottle.
  • Now fill the tank with fixer and invert continuously for 30 seconds for 4 minutes, now return the fix back to its bottle.
  • Now fill the tank with water at twenty degrees celsius and invert it 5 times now empty the tank out, once again refill with 20 degree water but this time invert ten times and empty again, finally do the same but invert 20 times and empty it again.
  • Now remove the lids from the tank, remove the spiral, remove its centre now submerge the spiral in wetting agent for a few seconds and carefully remove the film from the spiral, wipe the film once and hang to dry.
  • finally cut the film carefully into rows of six images and place in a protective sleeve.
